WALKING IN EAST KENT
There are plenty of guide books in the cottage, as with 525 miles of public footpaths in and around Dover, there are too many to list on this page.
There are lots of shorter walks from the cottage over the cliffs to Souters Lighthouse or to Kingdown and Deal.
The cottage is only a few minutes to the start of the walks that will lead you over the White Cliffes of Dover.
Saxon Shore Way
Saxon Shore Way has some of the finest coastal walking in England, following the Kent coast from Gravesend to Hastings and passing through St Margarets at Cliffe. Pick up the route just minutes from the cottage.
North Downs Way
The North Downs Way is a national trail that follows the crest of the North Downs from Farnham in Surrey to Dover & Canterbury
Pilgrims Ways
Originally, pilgrims would have travelled from Canterbury to Winchester to pray for St Swithun who was buried at the cathedral. The route was then used in reverse as pilgrims journeyed from Winchester to Canterbury Cathedral to pray at the shrine of Thomas Becket.
